Departing the hotel around 8 am, we take a private vehicle for the 3 hours drive to Ninh Binh province. Upon arrival, a small paddleboat will carry you up the Boi River through the limestone karsts for which Vietnam is famous. The ride was quiet and tranquil with a soundtrack of bird songs and water lapping around the oars. Photo opportunities are plentiful, especially during rice planting. After the boat trip, we will have lunch at one of the local restaurants. Continue to visit a beautiful Bich Dong pagoda before we get on our bikes for the 45-minute bike ride to Hoa Lu. The route is quite flat. Upon arrival at the Hoa Lu, you can explore the old city and Kinh Dinh and King Le temples. We head back to Hanoi and arrive at approximately 7 pm.
This tour encompasses two of the best in one full day trip. “Inland Halong Bay” (otherwise known as Tam Coc) and Hoa Lu are situated just 3 hours from Hanoi. Exploring Tam Coc by boat, visiting beautiful Bich Dong pagoda and then cycling on to Hoa Lu the former Ancient Capital of Vietnam you can explore the old temples and city.
