Day 1 - Hanoi Arrival (L)

Arrival at Noi Bai Airport, Your guide will come to meet you up and transfer you to hotel.

HANOI HALF-DAY CITY TOUR

Explore the charming city of Hanoi, often referred to as the ‘Paris of the East’, with its yellow ochre colonial buildings, tree-lined boulevards and scenic lakes. Visit OUTSIDE the historic Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, an imposing monument of marble and granite built to house the preserved body of beloved Vietminh leader Ho Chi Minh, affectionately known to the Vietnamese as “Uncle Ho”. Visit the One Pillar Pagoda, a Buddhist temple built in 1049 of wood in the shape of a lotus blossom and set on a single stone pillar, considered by many to be one of Vietnam’s most iconic pagodas. Proceed to Ho Chi Minh's House nearby, a simple wooden house in a tranquil setting where Ho Chi Minh lived and worked. Some of his belongings are on display and visitors can walk up the steps to see his bedroom. Continue to visit Hoa Lo Prison museum where you can learn many interesting stories about Vietnam history during French colony and Vietnam war. Then explore the famed Old Quarter known for its ‘36 streets of 36 wares’ named after the original 36 artisan guilds that date as far back as the 13th century. Explore the fascinating maze of back streets, fronted by narrow houses known as “tunnel” or “tube houses”, built to avoid taxes based on the width of their frontage onto the street, a wonderfully eclectic glimpse into Hanoi street life.

NOTES: The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is closed every Monday, Friday, and all afternoons.

HANOI WATER PUPPET SHOW

Early evening transfer from your hotel to a public theatre for a water puppet performance, a uniquely northern Vietnamese art form said to have originated in the flooded rice fields of the Red River Delta where villagers entertained themselves by manipulating puppets over the water. Modern performers stand chest-deep in water behind a screen and use long rods to move the colourful wooden puppets in a life-like way to depict scenes based on Vietnamese folklore. The skits are set to traditional music using drums, wooden bells, horns, bamboo flutes and cymbals. Scenes may also be accompanied by operatic songs narrating the action.

CULINARY EXPERIENCE AT ROSE KITCHEN (Private)

Transfer to the Rose Kitchen and freshen up before beginning your private class. Follow the demonstrations of the local chef who will teach you the traditional methods of preparing of traditional Vietnamese cuisine in this hands-on cooking experience. Demonstrate your culinary flair in the kitchen and after enjoy your delicious creations with the chef.

MORNING HIDDEN HANOI

Transfer from your hotel to our meeting point where you and your tour guide will explore the little alleys and discover the daily lives of locals. First, visit a vintage coffee shop for a delicious caphe sua da (Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk) and watch the world go by, taking in the sights and sounds of modern day Hanoi. Invigorated by the coffee, take a stroll pass St. Josephs Cathedral, a towering neo-gothic structure dating back to 1886, making it the oldest church in Hanoi. Next, head to a bustling alley, a popular place for locals to come for breakfast with a multitude of vendors hawking food and vegetables. Nearby is an old French house, where we will ascend its rickety wooden staircase and meet a local who has a lived in this relic from the past for decades. As long time Hanoian, he has lived through the cities turbulent history and witnessed its rapid development first hand. Take the opportunity to hear his story and listen to his unique perspective of this ancient city.

Day 6 - Hanoi - Halong (B,L,D)

Transfer from Hanoi to Tuan Chau Marina with guide 12:15 Check-in aboard with a welcome drink from crew member while the manager introduces the safety briefing and the boat cruises to the Bai Tu Long Bay. 13:15 Let your vacation start with a delicious lunch in the restaurant. Day 7 - Halong - Hanoi (B,Br,D)

06:30 Start your day with the Taichi on sundeck. 07:00 Light breakfast serve in dining room. 07:45 Visiting Vung Vieng floating fishing village, one of the biggest villages in HaLong Bay, you will have the chance to learn about fishermen's living and feel free with some option activities: bamboo boat or kayaking. 09:00 Back to the main boat for relaxing and check out at the reception, please put all your luggage at the outside of your cabin door, crew member will help to bring luggage on land. 09:45 Brunch is served in the restaurant while the boat heads back to the harbor.
