Hoi An - Buffalo Cart & Farming Life (B, L)
Pick up 08:00
Hotel pick-up. In the morning, take the opportunity to be a rice farmer for half a day! A buffalo-drawn cart transports you to a farm site, where local farmers demonstrate their work on a rice field. Before scattering the rice seeds or transplanting rice, plough and prepare the field together with a water buffalo. Then, when the rice is planted, water the field. On the farm, learn how to separate the rice from the chaff by using the grain mill, winnowing, pounding and sifting the rice. Next, soak and grind the rice into flour, the base for everything from noodles and rice paper to crackers and sweets. Enjoy some well-earned local specialties like Tam Huu and fried spring rolls.
After lunch enjoy the class to learn how to make your very own lantern during a class with a local instructor in Hoi An. Pick out your favorite color, decorate it as you like, and take it home as a souvenir.
